Plug in to Start

Description

The Payter terminal is idle until the Charger Controller tells it to start scanning. The trigger to this is when the EV Charger Controller detects that a vehicle has been plugged in. This also, optionally, identifies the charger or plug being used where multiple are available.

Dependencies

The Charger Controller must be able to detect when a vehicle is plugged in, and optionally identify which charger or plug. The Charger Controller must instruct that “Plug in to start” is the required action.

Step by Step Process

  1. Driver, following instructions visible at the Charge Point, plugs in their vehicle
  2. Charger Controller detects the vehicle and starts the Payter terminal
  3. Driver taps card
  4. Card data is returned to Charger Controller, which decides to authorize
  5. Upon successful authorization, Payter terminal returns valid sessionId to Charger Controller
  6. Charger Controller allocates sessionId to charge session, and starts charging session
  7. The Payter terminal UI (optional) and/or charger UI displays the session start confirmation on screen.
